I love this kind of thing and im so glad the 'want' to do them has come back! lol

Tired mom :) I have renovated everything from pine to mahogany so dont worry about the finish! All you need to do is make sure you sand it down enough to give you a grip for the paint. If the wood is really dark its best to do an undercoat first, then 2 coats of your finish. I tend to go for eggshell paint as it gives a chalky type harder finish than most emulsions etc - i wouldnt use gloss as its just too shiney :) I find it best to pick up pieces from second hand stores or ebay etc as you can generally get goodies for a few pound as they have marks etc but by the time they are painted and sanded they look as though the marks are meant to be there all the time! :) Let me know how you get on :)Debbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14075598166991527777noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8701145322160416021.post-83274288907292291052012-02-12T19:29:31.160+00:002012-02-12T19:29:31.160+00:00Debbie what do you use or how do you sand down the...Debbie what do you use or how do you sand down the table and chairs. I ask as I am after a bookcase in particular dimensions but I need it to be white, the only one I can find is in honey pine like the items you have bought. I have the paint etc to our dresser and TV cabinet, but just plucking up the courage as I don't want to ruin them!! The other shabby chic furniture we have we brought that way and I'm worried mine won't look as good!Katrina Turnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16834703680790959076noreply@blogger.com
