Turning 13....

I can remember turning 13 like it was yesterday! That feeling of being grown up, all these options in front of you and yet not knowing why its so scary at the same time too. The thought of all those years stretching out ahead until youre ancient (well at least 21!!) Everyone seems either way older (again anyone over 21) or way younger (no im not playing with my baby sis shes 2 YEARS YOUNGER!) Oooh happy times........before mortgage, bills and worry about my own kids!

You may be wondering why im pondering the past?

Well, today i officially became a mum of a teenager!! Where the heck have the last 13 years gone, it seems like only yesterday i was a frightened 21 year old not knowing what the heck to do with this screaming little thing that looked up at me with all the love in the world! Not knowing i was sobbing on the inside about how could i raise a child when i didnt know which end was which! We must have done something right as he is a really great kid, remembers his pleases and thankyous, will help me with his brothers and would help anyone who needed it. To say im proud of him is an understatement - Happy Birthday Ben :)

Ok, after the mushfest i will now show you the first crochet square i have done.............promise not to laugh...........you promised remember!! I need to practice more but boy is it addictive! I kinda got to grips with it a little easier than i thought i would which is a bonus but i know there is still a way to go before im in the realms of blanketdom! ;)

Todays bargains!

Had to pop and pay a cheque in today so it would have been rude not to dart into the charity shop! Not expecting to find anything i wanted i didnt take many pennies so was gutted to see a lot of things i would love..........isnt that always the case! Grrr!
Anyways, i bought some wool (£2.50) and a crochet hook (35p) so i can follow Vanessa's tutorial - bearing in mind that i havent crochet a stitch in my life im hoping i can make myself a blanket (pah! follow with interest its bound to be an interesting journey!) LOL
I also found these gorgeous little Pirex desert dishes - £1.95 for 6 and a fab little butterfly glass trinket box for 50p! :) Well impressed with todays haul! :)
My gorgeous cushion cover arrived today and i LOVE IT!! :D How sweet does it look nestled against my Dunelm cheapo ones! :)

An Easy Sunday...

Yesterday was quite an easy day for us... the boys played with their games upstairs...dh rebuilt his website (damn hackers!!) and i made the boys some playdough. So simple and well worth doing even just to use up almost out of date flour....

1/2 cup salt
1 cup flour
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp cream of tartar
1 cup boiling water
food colouring

Mix all the dry ingredients then vigorously mix in the boiled water and colouring. Leave to dry and store in an airtight container between uses :)

We also made some Krispie cakes using what was left of the cranberries, coconut, rice krispies and chocolate. I love using the little bits that are left at the back of the cupboards and tins......theres something so satisfying in throwing an empty bag/carton into the recycle bin and having a little space in the cupboard.

Council have said we are ok to keep chickens so now we just need to work out the pro and con list........anyone have any views, does anyone keep them in a back garden? :)

How yummy are these fabrics - ebay is a godsend for fat quarters of adorable fabric!! Im just not sure what to make them into? Do i go for shopping totes, peg bags, carrier bag holders, pin cushions - i think i might just sit and stroke them for a little longer while i ponder :)

I managed to get about 1/8 of the front garden dug over this morning before the rain started - it was hot, sunny and dry when i first went out! An hour of digging and it looks like a tornado is going to hit - why the heck does gardening do that every time!! Arrgghhh!! Im going to take some before pics of the veg plot in the back garden tomorrow as im hoping to make a start on that too but will keep it as a seperate little 'self sufficient' blog :)

Doodlebug house...

Im sure its a Doodlebug one?! Its been sitting here for ever and i eventually covered it for the Hero Arts Challenge this week. We had to do something inspired by one of the entries for the Win a day competition :)
I punched different strips with the threading water punch for the roof and used all kinds of Hero stamps for the foliage around the bottom. The sentiment stamp is also Hero and so are the gems :)

I stayed at my youngest sisters last night for the last time in her flat - shes moving into a 3 bed home and has so many plans and has asked for my help with decorating etc :) We had our usual take away and sat watching American Idol (yay my top 3 are still there!) and a movie (albeit i fell asleep and missed the end - but why change a habit now eh?) LOL Im notorious for not getting to the ends of movies!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all who pointed me in the directions of the pink posters - one is now winging its way to me :) You are all superstars!!

Debbie made me this gorgeous crochet cushion - i have coveted the round crochet ones for ages and really need to learn how to make them myself but i doubt i could even imagine making one this pretty!! The naked cushion is sitting here waitings its coat and i am so excited to see it IRL! How lucky am i!! :)

Thanks for all the lovely comments and emails about what happened re. previous post. To say i was shocked was an understatement, now im not so much shocked...........just angry! Its a shame its come to the point where we have to vet EVERYTHING we say incase its taken the wrong way or twisted around to someones warped sense of being.

How cool is this Keep Calm picture, and can i for the life of me find a pink poster .........NO! Red, yes.....Blue, yes........Pink, can i heck find one! This is my notelet box with some essentials inside...... dont forget notelets! I dont know if its an age thing or a 4 kid thing but my memory is just so bad lately! lol
LOL and on that note heres another remembering card! Made for Hero arts challenge where you had to stamp on something other than card/paper. I stamped onto the ribbon and used it as the bunting tape :)Signing off for the night, ive been out teaching a class and im shattered - though i think that has more to do with the 30 min walk and 1 hour of yoga i did today! lol

..please be careful what you write on you blogs :( I have just checked my stats to see why i was getting more hits and unfortunately people have been hitting my site while searching for boys and tripple x in the same sentence. My post about my poorly boys had me writing 3 kisses in the title and unfortunatly some sick people get their kicks looking for pics of kids. I walked into this one - please dont follow me, my post has been deleted and i will be hesitant of posting pics of the kids again :(
