Dont get me wrong....

I love it when the kids are at home but my whole routine goes out of the window!!

My blogging is sporadic at best -  despite me wanting to get regular posts going.

The days are all blending in to one and the weeks are flying by....just 2 more and normality reigns!

Kids will be at school and college and I can get back into a proper routine!

Who else is counting down the days?

Who else is looking forward to some sanity and routine!?

Please say its not just me!

LOL

Making and Morrisons!

I made these 2 little matching skirts for Evie and Amelia - i think they will be fab in winter with tights and boots! (age 6/9mths and age 4/5years) Permanent pleats and elasticated back.

I am in love with Morrisons!  Did you get your voucher last week in the Sun newspaper (i know i know i hate having to buy the rag but needs must!)  £5 free fruit and veg - no minimum spend!

It is meant to be only one per customer, since there are 8 of us and we are all customers I dont feel bad for getting £40 worth of fruit and veg free!  Heck its got to be good for the kids and since im doing Slimming World its all good!

I love a full fruit bowl...or two!

Rumours have it there may be a £5 off a £10 spend on meat later this week!

Keep an eye out!

Camper Van Keyring Kits - Baker Ross!

Still top of the trend charts are camper vans and how cute are these kits from Baker Ross.

We were sent some of them to work with and Evie was able to do most of it herself!

Lay out everything you have to work with and decide which order you would like the coloured beads to be.

Loop the cord over the keyring and straighten by running your fingers down both pieces.

Thread the beads one at a time onto the cord.

We did ours in a pattern of purple, green etc - it specifically had to be purple first as Purple is currently a little girls favourite colour! (everything is purple!!)

Fasten the remaining cord around the little loop on the campervan and secure with a double knot.  (I had to do this bit)

Trim the cord to make it neat.

Voila, cute keyring that took around 5 minutes to make.

These would make a cute little holiday reminders for those with camper vans with dates etc written on the back!

At £2.99 for a pack of 4 kits, you cant go wrong!

Uniform Shopping...

Today Evie and I got to spend the day in Newcastle with my Mum in Law (Sue) to get Evies school uniform ready for September.

I know - shes too little to be going to school, shes still my little baby girl :(

We got off the train and i took advantage of it being her first time on a train to nab a quick piccie!  Can you tell there was a mirror behind me! haha

This is the bustle shirt I made (I had the perfect little red flower buttons to add to the back!) and she kept getting stopped by old ladies saying how girly and beautiful she looked.  Little girls also kept gazing at her and were heard saying 'mummy I love her dress' - Evie said she felt like a princess!  Im quite proud of my sewing efforts here! :)

We then headed up Grainger street and forgot there was a Forbidden Planet there!  Evie got a Enderman (Minecraft) and carried it round for the rest of the day!

Nana Sue bought her Clarks shoes (flashing ones which she loves!) so she got to have her feet measured and got to walk around in shoes until she found the perfect ones.

We managed to find her a pinafore with little embroidered flowers and a flower tag on the zip and some white polo shirts that had little scallop collars and sleeves - I swear she was so uninterested in uniform shopping as the colours were grey/black! lol  Ive never seen a kid so picky over things that looked similar but at least we managed to find some things that were a little more floral(ish) and girly!   (Not sure how the PE dept are going to react to her Cath Kidston Trainers though! haha

We had a fabulous day out and thoroughly enjoyed our girly day out, just the 3 of us!

We were treat to a delicious lunch in John Lewis, spent time looking around the shops before headed back on the train and Evie was completely worn out!

If you are reading this Nana Sue - Thank you so much from both of us!

Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcakes!

I am entering this post as my entry over on a bakespiration challenge on Stuck in the tree!

Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcakes :)

Grown up luxury with the added benefit of passing it off as part of your 5 a day - just use full fruit jam! ;)

Ingredients.

6oz self raising flour
1tsp baking powder
6oz soft butter
6oz caster sugar
2 eggs
2tsp vanilla extract
7fl oz milk
2tbsp peanut butter

Frosting and Filling.

2oz Icing Sugar

4oz peanut butter

8oz soft cream cheese

Good quality Jam

Combine the sugar and butter and whisk until well blended.

Add the eggs one at a time making sure you pull down the mix from the sides of the bowl before adding the next.

Sieve the flour and add slowly to your eggy mix.

Add milk, peanut butter and vanilla and mix well.

Spoon into muffin cases and bake at 180 degrees for approx 25 minutes, take out when topping is hard and a skewer comes out of the cake clean.

Leave to cool completely.

After cooling i injected approx 5mls of jam into the centre of each cake. You know to stop injecting when it starts oozing back out of the top! lol

The peanut butter icing - add more peanut butter if you prefer a strong taste and you can add additional spoonfulls of icing sugar to keep it sweet.

Grind up some peanuts and sprinkle on top.

Overtime on the sewing machine!

Its no secret that I love making things so how happy was I when my neighbour came round and asked if I would like a KNITTING machine!

WOW - yes please!

I remember mum using one for years and taking orders from all my friends' mums at the school gates!  Jumpers with liquorice all sorts embedded, cherry trees on the torso and cherries down the arms, Peter Rabbit and so many more (I can even remember sitting punching out some of the pattern cards to do our own designs!)

Im now on the look out for the pattern cards and wool cones - I think ebay might be the best bet! lol

Anyways, right now im loving the sewing machine and creating things for the girls.  Thankfully Evie loves wearing handmade and requests what she wants some of the time too - Amelia is still too little to care! lol

(bear in mind im still very much a novice and learning all the time!)

Rainbow Girl to save the day!!

How sweet is this frilly coat - i love that I managed to make it look good enough that people ask where we bought it when she wears it!

Another little summer lightweight jacket which looks fab with jeans (...so looking forward to making this in a grown up size too!)

A little wrap top dress - ive since sewn on the spotty wrap so that it fastens at the back - it finishes it off better!

Amelias first handmade piece - its 6mths though as that was the smallest the pattern would go so im hoping she may still get a little wear out of it! lol

Amelias bibs and burp cloths - same fabrics as some of the dresses ive cut out for Evie so that they will match without being Sound of Music kitch!

Looking forward to losing some weight so that I can start and make my own clothes too - more incentive to diet and exercise!!
